Facebook is expanding its recently launched Find Wi-Fi feature to work globally after initially launching in a few countries last year. The feature lets businesses share with Facebook that they offer free Wi-Fi to visitors, and Facebook in turn can promote those businesses to users in need of a better Internet connection.

Apple supporting National Parks next month w/ Apple Pay donations & new Watch Activity challenge

Apple has announced a new Apple Pay initiative to raise funds for the National Parks Foundation, running for the first half of July.

From July 1 through 15, Apple is donating $1 to the National Park Foundation for every purchase made with Apple Pay at any Apple Store, on apple.com or through the Apple Store app in the US

Samsung reportedly building the world’s largest OLED production plant as it chases more Apple orders

Samsung is said to be building the world’s largest OLED production plant as it seeks to meet future demand for displays for the iPhone 8 and beyond. The report comes after the company reportedly shared its plans with manufacturers of production equipment needed for the plant.

However, while Samsung is believed to be the sole supplier of displays for the iPhone 8, there is no guarantee that it will retain this position for subsequent OLED models …

The new iPad Pro A10X chip is the first 10nm TSMC chip, smallest iPad SoC die size to date

Apple’s new 10.5-inch iPad Pro and 12.9-inch iPad Pro features the latest iteration in Apple’s processor and GPU design, packaged into the A10X SoC. Apple’s website touts 30-40% performance improvements over the previous iPad chip, the A9X.

TechInsights has analyzed the chip and confirmed that the SoC is fabricated using a 10 nanometer process, whereas the A10 and A9X use 16mm processes. This results in a high-performance chip that is also the smallest iPad SoC die size to date …
